Learning by making, not just reading.

Deep Roots Woodworking was founded by homeschooling parents who believe woodworking teaches far more than craft. Patience, spatial reasoning, geometry, problem-solving, and the pride of finishing something with your own hands — these lessons last a lifetime.

Every class is small (8 students max) so your child gets real one-on-one time with the instructor. Safety is our foundation; skill is what we build on top.

  • All tools and materials provided — just bring yourself
  • Age-appropriate curriculum with escalating complexity
  • Every child completes real, take-home projects
  • Safety-first environment with certified instructors
  • Co-op structure — parents welcome to observe
🪚
Hand Tools First
All beginners start with hand tools — chisels, mallets, and hand saws — building control before introducing power tools.
📐
Measurement & Math
Fractions, geometry, and precision measuring are woven naturally into every project at every level.
🛡️
Safety as Culture
Shop safety is lesson one — and lesson every day. We teach children to respect tools before they ever pick one up.
🪵
Real Wood, Real Projects
Students work with pine, poplar, and hardwoods — no craft kits. Everything they build is something to use.

Four programs, one craft.

From curious 6-year-olds to adults ready to turn woodworking into a livelihood — every program meets students exactly where they are.

A 16-week journey through the craft.

Each session runs 16 weeks. The curriculum cycles through core skill modules, with projects that grow in complexity as the term progresses.

Week 1–2
Shop Foundations
Safety rules, tool identification, proper storage, and workbench setup. Every child earns their shop card before touching a tool.
Week 3–4
Measuring & Marking
Reading a tape, using a square, marking gauge basics. Real-world fractions and geometry through hands-on practice.
Week 5–7
Cutting & Shaping
Hand saws, coping saws, chisels, and rasps. Students learn proper technique for straight and curved cuts.
Week 8–10
Joining Wood
Nails, screws, glue, and basic joinery. How to make a joint that actually holds — and why some joints are stronger than others.
Week 11–13
First Major Project
Each student designs and builds a complete piece — a toolbox, a shelf, or a small cabinet — using all skills from previous weeks.
Week 14–16
Finishing & Showcase
Sanding progressions, stain, paint, and oil finishes. The session ends with a family showcase where students present their work.

Straightforward pricing.

All materials and tools included in every program. The Master Craftsman track charges materials separately because students build and keep — or sell — premium custom pieces.
